Kyla is an animal loving, well-travelled, seamstress Queen. She’s quickly become a Barefooter and couldn’t wait to put some photos together in answering our questions below. Read on to learn a bit more about Kyla:
1. You are keen traveller – what do you enjoy most about travelling and where are some of your favourite places that you have been? (local, interstate, international are all welcome!)
I love travelling! Experiencing a new place and culture has changed the way I see the world and others. I try to go overseas once a year and to see some small towns and hidden gems in Australia as much as possible too. My fave places have been Italy, Japan, New Caledonia and USA – I got married in Vegas by an Elvis impersonator!!! 🙂 next on the list is Greece and Spain.
2. You have been to Mardi Gras in Sydney a few times now and also made your own fully sequined outfit for the occasion! What is it that draws you to this event and inspires such epic sewing creations?
I love Mardi Gras so much, it’s a huge highlight each year. It inspires me and is such a great way to celebrate being a queer woman and being part of such a beautiful and diverse community. I love the energy, music and overall vibe of Sydney during Mardi Gras. I also love making outfits and getting all glittery and sparkly too 🙂
3. On the weekends you can often be found at dog beach…. Even though you don’t have your own four-legged friend. What is that you love so much about the ocean and puppies?
My partner and I love visiting the dog beach on weekends, it’s the perfect way to spend a warm sunny day – body boarding, reading trashy magazines, listening to music and meeting so many doggos!!!
4. What is your favourite season of the year and why?
Spring!!!! Perfect weather, all the flowers are blooming and I get to celebrate my birthday in October too!
