What Is Sports Physiotherapy?
Sports physiotherapy is a specialised area of physiotherapy which deals solely with the injuries and issues affecting sportspeople. Typically, these injuries fall within the scope of general musculoskeletal conditions such as muscle and ligament strains or sprains, joint and bone injuries.
As athletes typically require high-level performance and demand on their body, which stresses their muscles, joints and bones to the limit, sports physiotherapists help athletes recover quicker and provide education to prevent future problems or recurring injury.
At Barefoot Physiotherapy, we’re constantly searching for new and improved treatment techniques and equipment to speed up recovery time and provide greater results. With us, you can be sure that you’re receiving the most up to date, learned sports physio Brisbane services.
At Barefoot Physiotherapy, we’ll work comprehensively to ensure you reap the benefits of supportive, holistic, and personalised one-on-one sports physiotherapy. Our bodies are unique and complex. As such, each particular problem is treated with the utmost care and attention to help you recover as quickly as possible.
Barefoot Physiotherapy will identify, then rectify the impacting underlying factors through comprehensive analysis before providing solutions in the form of musculoskeletal physiotherapy and technique advice.
Our expert team of sports physiotherapists start by listening to your concerns, medical history and what’s important to you to fully assess the issue at hand, devising mediating strategies and providing muscular exercises to aid improved rest and recovery. Whether you’re a competitive athlete or a parkrun attendee, you’re in safe hands with Barefoot Physiotherapy.
The Benefits of Sports Physiotherapy
Whether you’ve injured yourself in a friendly park kickabout, or during a professional A-League game, each injury has to be treated with the same philosophy – to get you back on your feet, free from pain and discomfort as quickly as possible.
However, sports physiotherapy is not just about treating the specific injury and moving on, it’s about providing education and resources to the athletes affected to prevent recurring injuries or future injuries before they even occur. The biggest risk factor to injury is having the same injury as previously experienced.
The sports physiotherapy team at Barefoot Physiotherapy are passionate and experienced, able to:
- Assess your injury and identify underlying causes
- Develop an individualised treatment plan
- Improve the strength and mechanics of other parts of your body
- Apply realistic timescales for a return to sport
- Prevent future injuries from occurring
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
