The beginnings of the barefoot lifestyle —

Sal is a strong advocate for leaning in and living life, whatever that looks like for you. This passion and drive is what keeps Barefoot a rock for its community. She believes that to truly enjoy life, you need to deeply understand both yourself and your body.

As Barefoot’s Head of Physiotherapy (a role she is very proud of), Sal is the ultimate goalkeeper of care standards across the whole team. Her extensive experience in private practice, hospitals, orthopaedics, Pilates, sport, and women’s health, combined with a lifelong commitment to professional development, means she brings a holistic view to client care. She understands not only musculoskeletal conditions but the body as a whole — medically, orthopaedically, psychologically, and emotionally. This perspective helps Barefoot deliver rapid and lasting results.

Sal also believes that mind and body health are inseparable. She runs regular training with the team on these themes and developed the Wellbeing Battery™, a framework that integrates seamlessly with Barefoot’s physiotherapy approach. Learn more at www.wellbeingbattery.com.

In her Head of Physiotherapy role, Sal case-manages complex presentations, mentors the Barefoot team, leads logistics for training programs and Brainstorm Days, and balances big-picture planning with acute day-to-day problem solving.

Leaning into life —

Sal’s values are Making a Difference, Connection, and Joy — and she lives them daily. Her way of “leaning into life” is sometimes a little unconventional: heading home to Toogoom for full moons (best kayaking conditions), or building Brainstorm Days into the DNA of Barefoot since day one.

She is endlessly curious about teamwork, leadership, and psychology. Known within the team for turning big, exciting ideas into real-world actions, Sal is the bridge between vision and execution — a reason Barefoot continues to evolve as a high trust, high performance team.

Sal has been recognised with leadership and business awards, created the Barefoot Wellness Summits, Car Park Parties, and Contacts Lunches, and volunteers her time at UQ and Brisbane State High.

And then, of course, there’s Pip. The wonderpup with her own half-door at the clinic, who kayaks like a pro, and who swam out of Sal’s house with her at 3am during the 2022 Brisbane floods. Pip has been by her side ever since. Read Pip’s bio here

Sal is always open to meeting new people and hearing cool stories. If you haven’t met her yet, make sure to say hi or reach out.
