Every client journey at Barefoot follows our proven Physiotherapy Plan – designed to bring relief now and lasting change for the future.
Our thorough, whole-body assessment helps us identify the true underlying cause of your condition. Once we’ve found it, we:
Treat it directly
Teach you how to care for it yourself
Support you to keep your body strong and resilient long term
For most people, this process brings rapid improvements in movement and pain. For complex conditions, we progress more gently to give your body time to adapt. And if our testing shows you need medical imaging or referral, we’ll guide you there quickly – because we don’t keep treating without results.
This assessment includes testing your:
- NERVES
- MUSCLES (INCLUDING TENDONS)
- JOINTS (LIGAMENTS, DISCS, BONES, CARTILAGE)
- MOVEMENTS
- MEANINGFUL TASKS
We chart your progress including how long and how many sessions will be required to achieve good improvements and what is working to have to achieving your good result. Below is an example recovery graph.

Staying well long-term
The goal isn’t just getting better, but staying better. We help you build confidence in caring for your body long term.
Once you’re back doing the things you love, we shift focus to reducing recurrence. This “maintenance phase” means checking in at longer intervals, so you can:
- 1. Confirm your self-management strategies are working
- 2. Progress your skills and performance
- 3. Address any new strains before they build up
We also run sessions in the gym, workplace or at home where helpful – ensuring your treatment is practical, effective, and fits your life.
Our Story —
Barefoot Physiotherapy was founded in 2012 by Sal Oliver Lange with a simple but powerful idea: care should treat the whole person, not just the pain. Too many people were leaving physio feeling rushed, unseen, or stuck with short-term fixes. Sal wanted to change that.
From our home in Brisbane’s Red Brick House, we’ve built a clinic where you’re listened to, cared for, and guided with a plan that makes sense for your life. Over the years, we’ve supported thousands of locals – from young professionals to weekend adventurers – with care that goes deeper than symptoms and helps create lasting change.
Although Sal no longer treats clients directly, she remains the Head of Physiotherapy and leads the Barefoot team every day. As the ultimate “goalkeeper” of clinical standards, Sal is across the care of every client and ensures the team delivers the highest level of excellence. Many people choose Barefoot because of Sal’s reputation, and while your sessions may be with one of our physios, you can feel confident knowing Sal’s leadership and experience underpin the care you receive.
